Chris Lewis: A Patient Advocacy Journey
After being diagnosed with a rare blood cancer and given only six months to live, Chris Lewis turned his experience into a lifelong commitment to supporting others.
His work began in cancer advocacy, giving a voice to people affected by serious illness and helping organisations better understand the real-life challenges patients and families face. Over time, that work revealed a growing problem: too many people were being left behind because they could not afford to stay connected.
That insight led Chris to create SimpalUK, a charity tackling digital poverty by providing free connectivity to people living with cancer, serious illness, poor health, poverty, or social exclusion.
Today, Chris works with charities, healthcare teams, community organisations, public services, and corporate partners to make sure vulnerable people can stay connected to the things most of us depend on every day: family, medical care, benefits, housing, work, education, and friendship.
His message is simple: in a digital world, connection is not a luxury. It is a lifeline.
